The Lenfest Center
Opened in September 2007, the result of several years of hard work by the H. Chase Lenfest Foundation, The Lenfest Center is a 52,000 square feet building that houses a basketball court, dance studio, computer lab, library, game room, catering kitchen, and several classrooms and conference rooms. The Lenfest Center is also home to Squashsmarts, a program provides students in grades 5-12 with the opportunity to learn the sport of squash and receive intensive academic and life-skills instruction. The Center boasts 8 professional-quality squash courts on the 2nd floor.
In the fall of 2012, the H.Chase Lenfest Foundation took over day-to-day operations of The Center and introduced a new schedule of after-school and summer programs. The programs focused on students in grades K-12, with an emphasis on grades K-8. Our goal is to provide youth with a wide range of athletic and enrichment opportunities, as well as intensive academic support. Our programs aim to additionally provide opportunities to explore social issues, places, and identity, and focus on skill building and promoting investigation of all forms of self-expression and live art. All scholars who participate are given the opportunity to sharpen their academic, artistic, leadership, and emotional skills.
Our programs are safe, structured, and fun, and our activities are free to participants. Enrollment is based on a first-come first-served basis.
